PA To Give Laptops To Every High School Student

Pennsylvania wants to put a laptop into the hands of every public high schooler.

Pennsylvania has recently launched a program aimed at putting a laptop computer into the hands of every public high schooler in that state within three years. That covers 501 school districts.

Locally, the Greenville Area School District is the only district getting in on the first-year funding in Pennsylvania's Classrooms for the Future program, a $200 million initiative from Gov. Ed Rendell.

Every high school student in Greenville will have a laptop computer for use in the classroom next school year, thanks to the technology education program. Every seventh- and eighth-grader in the district's junior-senior high school will have a laptop within two years.

The computers will remain school district property.
