O2 UK Mobile Broadband Service

O2's UK operation has launched a new Broadband service for laptop users which it claims will provide fast and reliable internet access allowing customers to browse the web and access their emails on their laptops from virtually anywhere.

The service is available to O2 customers only and for £20 per month, they will be able to download 3GB of data via the company's network with access to around 7500 Wi-fi hotspots allowing users to stay connected wherever they go. Customers signing up for an 18 month contract will receive a free USB modem but those wishing to use the service on a month by month basis will have to pay £119.99 for the modem.

O2 says that the service will shortly offer downstream bandwidth of up to 3.6-Mbps.
