August 2007 - Toshiba To Offer Larger Laptop Hard Drive

The amount of data that can be stored on a hard-disk drive is continously expanding as the needs of users grow. The increased amount of digital media now being stored on hard drives means it is to be expected that the Laptop will have to follow the Desktop in increasing the amount of GB’s offered.

A significant move in this direction is the announcement by Toshiba that it intends to start producing a 320GB Laptop hard drive by the end of 2007. Production is expected to start in the fourth quarter although no pricing has been mentioned.

The 2.5 inch drive, the first to be announced with that capacity, is one of five making up Toshiba's MKxx52SX range of hard-disk drives. Storage space on other drives in the range will offer between 80GB and 250GB. The extra capacity here will be particularly helpful for those needing to store video on their Laptop.
