The new Notebook is called "The One" and is aimed at school use. The product is likely to provide competition against the Asus 4GB Eee PC since it comes in at less than half the price. Weighing less than 1 kilogram, the Linux-based laptop will have a 3-hour battery life, Wi-Fi, a flash-based hard drive, "wireless music server", Ethernet networking, a solid-state hard drive, at least two USB ports and audio jacks. The keyboard is detachable from the screen section. Elonex believe that the cost is the most important aspect of "The One" saying it "fits in line with the goal of the (Department for Children, Schools and Families) to close the gap between those from low-income and disadvantaged backgrounds and their peers." For every 100 sold Elonex wiil donate one of the machines to underprivileged children.
