Easy-Clean Laptop Screen

LG.Philips LCD Co, the South Korean manufacturer of Liquid Crystal displays, has recently announced an easy-clean screen for Notebooks.

Using a similar technique to non-stick pans, the panel allows dirt and grease to be wiped away easily and also facilitates the removal of ink. Apparently, a coating on screens to reduce glare also tends to retain dirt and grease and, whilst this could be helped by applying another separate coating, LG.Philips say the new coating can do both jobs.

It is felt that LG.Philips manufacturing customers will welcome this development and, as for users, it is thought that students, particularly, would find it helpful.

Production is expected to start in the first half of 2008, first being applied to L G Philips 15.4-inch widescreen panels and to panels of other sizes by the end of next year.
