Apple Laptop Battery Problems

Apple have confirmed that"some Batteries" have caused "performance issues" in some of their laptop computers.

They have produced a software update to fix the issue which should be installed on their Macbook and Macbook-pro computers and extra batteries purchased between February 2006 and April 2007. If the update does not solve the problem users should contact their Apple store or retailer to arrange for free relacement batteries.

They mention that some of the batteries show visible signs of being deformed. One of the problems reported has been swollen batteries, others being involve the battery not being recognised, not charging or running down quickly

Apple say there is no safety risk to users.
