HP Claims 24 Hour Laptop Battery Life

All-day computing without battery recharge is possible according to Hewlett Packard, with the introduction of its EliteBook 6930p laptop. HP claims that the laptop can run continuously for 24 hours on a single battery charge, provided that the appropriate (additional cost) add-ons are incorporated.

The extra running time is not simply down to the capacity of battery itself apparently. Energy saving components which include a solid state hard-drive and Illumi-Lite LED display add to the operating time of the battery. The Eitebook 6930p runs Windows XP rather than Vista.

In order to achieve the extended running time, the laptop has to be customised to incorporate optional components including the high capacity battery, Illumi-Lite LED display and special graphics driver.

The EliteBook 6930p is expected to be available in October at a cost of £876 + VAT but this figure does NOT include the extras mentioned above.
